The number of stereoisomers possible for 3-methylcyclohexanol should be calculated.
Concept Introduction:
The isomeric molecules having same molecular formula and same bonding sequence of atom but different orientation of atoms in the space are called stereoisomers.
Chirality is seen in by mirror image, if its mirror image is not the same as it is.
Chiral center has different substituents attached to it. Thus, a chiral carbon is carbon attached to four different groups.
