Energy needed to transform the liquid state of a substance to its gaseous state is known as the enthalpy of vaporization of the system.  The formula for enthalpy of vaporization is shown below.

    ΔHvaporization=ΔUvaporization+pΔV

Where,

  • ΔHvaporization is the enthalpy of vaporization.
  • ΔUvaporization is the increase in the internal energy.
  • pΔV is thework done against pressure.
