Chapter 44.4, Problem 2SB
Summary Introduction
To review:
The exchange of molecules and ions with blood does not occurs in the brain as compare to most of the body tissues.
Introduction:
The capillaries have narrow spaces between the capillary endothelial cells where water, ions, small molecules can freely pass through the blood and interstitial fluid. There are some larger molecules like erythrocytes, platelets, and some plasma proteins that do not pass and get retained inside the capillary.

While Jack and Eliza were backpacking on a trail in YellowstonePark, they encountered a grizzly bear cub that seemed amazinglytame. However, while Jack tried to feed the cub, its mother appearedand attacked him. Eliza escaped by climbing a tree, but Jack receivedseveral deep lacerations (cuts) and lost a lot of blood over the nextseveral hours. Eliza helped him reach medical aid, and he survived.Which of the following mechanisms was (were) activated to help keepJack alive?
