Question
Chapter 5, Problem 10ST
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The option which has predictable ionic charge of three negative is to be identified.
Concept Introduction:
Generally, when a metal and a nonmetal react, the metals tend to lose electrons and nonmetals tend to gain electrons. An atom that bears charge is called as ion; so when a metal loses electrons, it becomes a positive ion and when a nonmetal gains electrons, it becomes a negative ion. The negative charge on nonmetal ion is also governed by its number of valence electrons.
