Introduction
Technology has created new revenue streams via the Internet and e-commerce, new connections with clients and consumers at work, home, and by mobile applications, and enables business to conduct commerce across the US and on a global scale (Munson, 2011). Office technologies have advanced and have allowed business to advance to a point of doing business with global customers, not just their own areas. It has created a communication standard that is faster and enables businesses to conduct business at faster levels than ever before. But with new technologies problems also arise that need to be addressed.
Types of Information Technologies The most prominent example of information technology is the Internet with its World Wide Web component (Blackhurst, 2002). The Internet has enabled businesses to set up website storefronts that enable consumers all over the globe to shop anywhere on the web from anywhere they are. A customer in China can shop a website storefront in the US without going to the US to shop the business. Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) enables search and location of educational literature on a given topic from most of the world. Technology is rapidly changing our lifestyles on a daily basis. From how we entertain ourselves, how we stay in contact with one another, all the way to how we pay our bills. Successful attempts within the world of information technology have significantly changed the way we do business as well. Web and mobile-based applications created a new platform for businesses to expose themselves to new clientele, along with staying abreast to what competitors are using to compete with them. Once a common sight in virtually any American office, the electric typewriter is now a thing of the past. In fact, the century between 1910 and 2010 witnessed both the introduction and the obsolescence of the electric typewriter to the dismay of old school typists who are now forced to find second-hand models if they still want to use them. To determine how the electric typewriter rose and fell within such a relatively short period of time, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature concerning the history of electric typewriters and what happened to cause their obsolescence by 2010. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are presented in the conclusion.

In the business world, Information Technology plays a major part in companies’ success and growth. Technology is rapidly advancing at an exponential rate and what we can do now with IT is beyond what we could have imagined just a couple decades ago. I am pursuing a degree in marketing and looking into information systems as well, I expect to become a brand manager for a big company one day such as Apple, Proctor and Gamble, or GE, etc. In marketing we utilize data to gather information and knowledge to better understand our customers. I believe I would use IT to my advantage in a marketing career to help better the company I work for. IT Is growing significantly and the amounts of data I could utilize in a business career is astronomical. Furthermore, I would be able to use this data to have a better relation between the business and its customers and help the company succeed through the role information technology plays in this type of environment.
