Question
Chapter 5, Problem 5.12P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Whether the structure resulting from exchanging the groups W and Y on the black structure in Figure 5-12 is superimposable on the blue structure from the same figure is to be determined.
Concept introduction:
Exchanging two groups on the chiral center reverses the configuration. Reflection through a mirror also reverses the configuration at a chiral center.

Can someone explain if my answer would be counted wrong on a test? My answer is the one w the arrow bc I was referencing the example I saw in my notes, but I checked and I got a different structure. Would my structure be correct as well?
chiral. If you were able to make another molecule that is a mirror image of the chiral molecule,
the mirror image and the original molecule will be non-superimposable. i.e. the atoms
surrounding carbon won't completely align. The lack of alignment of the suround atom makes
the two molecules different from each other.
The central carbon must be surrounded by 4 different groups. The chiral carbon is highlighted.

The 3D structure of the above molecule focuses on the chiral carbon and the bond surrounding the
chiral carbon. The molecule on the left is different from the molecule on the right (mirror image)
because they are non-superimposable.
