Summary Introduction

To review:

The function and effects of host modulating proteins produced during HIV and herpesvirus infection.

Introduction:

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a retrovirus that contains RNA (ribonucleic acid) genome. It is reverse transcribed to DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and then integrated into the host genome to replicate itself. Herpesvirus is a DNA virus that undergoes rolling circle replication mediated by both host and viral proteins in the host nucleus.

Describe Covid-19, it’s mechanism of entry, and it’s deleterious effects. Be specific about receptor type used for viral entry.
a) How virus vaccine, under immune system processes (via dendritic cells, T-Cells and B-Cells), can help people against real virus infection. b) Structure of SARS-CoV-2 and their entry process on host cells. Then, if you choose onetype of virus protein (spikes, nucleocapsid, membrane or envelope) should be used for vaccine, which is the best candidate? Why?
You work for a large biotechnology company that is studying viruses, vaccines, and small molecule inhibitors.  You are asked to give an overview of cell signaling as it relates to the coronavirus and young adults.  a) Describe cell signaling pathways (e.g., at least 3) that are likely manipulated during a coronavirus infection.  In your description, include how the pathways are involved in antagonizing the host antiviral response.
