Chapter 15, Problem 4ICA
For each calculation described below, write a single MATLAB command that will perform the stated task.
- a. L1 and L2 are the lengths [cm] of two sides of a rectangular void whose volume [cm3] is stored in VO11. Calculate the length of the third side and place the result in RS1.
- b. L2 and L3 are the lengths [cm] of two sides of a rectangular sow whose mass [g] is stored in MASS1, and whose specific gravity is stored in SG1. Calculate the length [cm] of the third side and place the result in RS2.
- c. The height [cm] of a cylinder is stored L2, Cs radius [cm] is stored in L1, and its specific gravity is stored SG1. Calculate the cylinder’s mass [g] and place the result in M1.
- d. The diameter [cm] and height [cm] of a cylinder are equal and stored L2, and the cylinder’s mass [g] is stored in MASS2. Calculate we specific gravity of the cylinder and place the result in SpG1.
- e. The height [cm] of a cylinder is stored in L3, specific gravity is stored in SG2, and its mass is stored MASS2. Calculate the cylinder’s diameter [cm] and place the result in D1.

I need help with a MATLAB code. I need to find two values of n, one that is positive and one that is negative, that will give all negative real roots. Can you help me find them?
function [r] = find_roots(n)
% Define constants I = 400; J = 150; x = (J/I) - 1; y = n - 1; Q = y + x*(y-1);
% Define the coefficients of the quadratic equation coefficients = [1, 0, (3*x+Q^2+1), 0, (3*x*Q+Q^2)];
% Find the roots r = roots(coefficients);
end
A member of your team gives you the following MATLAB program. Your job is to create the function used in the program.
H = 30; % height [cm]
V = 50; % volume [cm^3]
% calculates the radius [cm] of a cone
R2 = RadiusCone(H,V);
2) Given the following Matlab commands
x = [8 9 11; 7 10 5]
[a, b] = max (x)
o What the result of the command [a, b]
= max (x) ?
What is a?
o What is b?
