Introduction:
The invertebrates have a different process of removing wastes from their bodies. For example, annelids, they have a sequence of tubular filtration arrangement which is termed as Metanephridia. A pair of structure, singular and metanephridium is found in the body segment that consists of a tubular network with a structure that is funnel-like and is termed as nephrostomes. This collects the coelomic fluid in which nitrogenous wastes are present and the other solutes with the help of active transport reabsorbed along the tubules that extend from the nephrostomes and a form capillaries. But the excretory system of insects is different from that of other invertebrates as its excretion takes place through secretion in place of filtration of the fluid with the help of an extensive tube termed as Malpighian tubules. It initiates from the midgut and extended inside the hemolymph.

- As the text noted, two-thirds of the water and solutes that the body reclaims by reabsorption in nephrons occurs in the proximal tubule. Proximal tubule cells have large numbers of mitochondria and demand a great deal of oxygen. Explain why.arrow_forwardRenal Physiology (human) The foot processes of podocytes surround the peritubular capillaries of both cortical and juxtamedullary nephrons. Vasa recta are long, straight blood vessels associated with juxtamedullary nephrons. Canagliflozin is a therapeutic drug that acts on the collecting duct to decrease glucose reabsorption.arrow_forwardI know that crustaceans use filiration via the antennal glands for their excretory organ. The blood first enters the (21), which filters small molecules out of the afferent arteriole. Larger molecules such as (22) do not enter the nephron. Proteins (Can or Can not?, 23) enter the nephron. Amino acids and glucose are placed back into the blood stream by the cells of the (24). As the material that becomes urine travels down the descending limb of the loop, a good amount of (25) is removed. The ascending limb is responsible for removing (26). through the process of active transport. Urine is further concentrated by removal of some water in the collecting duct.arrow_forward
