Hydrocarbons with one carbon-carbon double bonds are called alkenes. Alkenes show cis-trans isomerism. In cis-isomer, same groups are on the similar side of the C=C double bond. In the trans- isomer, the similar group are present on the opposite side. Suffix ‘-ene’ is used to name alkenes.
