Concept introduction:
The polarization of sigma bonds within a molecule or ion form an electronic effect which is known as inductive effect. Each atom has different electronegativity value. The difference among the two values of two atoms to any terminal of the bond creates inductive effect. The acidity, basicity or stability of a chemical species is affected by inductive effect. In general, anions are stabilized by electron-withdrawing group near the negative charge, and cations are stabilized by electron-donating group near the positive charge.
