In the New England area, the Indians were relatively weak, and an epidemic had killed many of them. a) The Wampanoag tribe was in no condition to resist the settlers, so they made a treaty and even celebrated the first Thanksgiving with them. b) As the settlers moved inland, the peace was destroyed (1) The English had sieged the Pequot village and nearly annihilated the whole tribe. c) The puritans tried to convert the Indians but not with nearly as much effort as the Spanish and French did. d) Intertribal alliances against the English attacked many English villages and destroyed. Similar to the French and Spanish colonies, the British allied with Native Americans to gain power in North America. Meanwhile, many Native American groups grouped together in what the British called “tribes” in order to counter population decline and have some political power. The colonies were mostly autonomous and part of the South Atlantic System, which brought them economic growth.
PerceivJuan ponce de Leon discovers the present Florida. De Leon became a very rich person by finding gold and farming. Another thing is he sold things to sailors traveling to Spain. Overall De Leon was a good man aka he was a hero rather than a villain.
The discovery of the Americas also allowed new trading options and financial expansion which benefited all of Europe.
During the exploration of the New World Portugal, France, and Spain had one thing in common to search for new resources such as sugar, spices, and gold. The European arrival in the Americas set a new era off known as the Columbian Exchange which changed the America’s forever. Native Americans introduced the Europeans to several new crops such as corn, squash, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes. Portugal set off for a search for sea route to Asia, while in competition with Spain who was also seeking an active root to Asia as well. The French exploration occurred later after the “New World” was found, and their target was to find a Northwest Passage where they hoped for a route through North America to the pacific.

De Soto died in 1542 on the banks of the Mississippi River[5] in what is now Guachoya, Arkansas or Ferriday, Louisiana.

The Columbian Exchange introduced many things into the New and Old World that changed their culture completely. Ireland is known for potatoes, but potatoes didn’t come from Ireland they came from the New World. Also, horses are one of the symbols of Native Americans, though horses were one of the domesticated animals brought to the New World. The New World eventually benefited from the European exploration to the New World with the introduction of crops, livestock, and European technology.
Born in Santervás de Campos, Spain, in 1460, Juan Ponce de León had sailed on expeditions with Christopher Columbus, and then sailed to the New World on expeditions of his own later on. Although most commonly known for his exploration for the Fountain of Youth, Ponce de León proved to be a great explorer for having resolved the rebellion that had erupted in Hispaniola, but also discovering Puerto Rico and Florida to add to his legacy and story.

Jacob Le Marie was a Dutch explorer that circumnavigated the world. Jacob Le Marie found the strait that was in between Tierra del Fuego and Isla de Estados. It is now named the Le Marie Strait for him. His ship (The Eendracht) then rounded Cape Horn and when doing so, proved that Tierra del Fuego wasn’t a continent. He provide knowledge for others wanting to sail around Tierra del Fuego. He then died at sea right before Christmas in 1616.
Puritans in England didn't like the English Church and wanted to practice their own religion, so they moved to Holland. It wasn’t what the Puritans were looking for, so 102 of them boarded the Mayflower in 1620, and landed at Plymouth under the lead of William Bradford. On the ship, the people on board wrote the governing document that would be put into place after they landed. Native Americans taught the Pilgrims how to farm and survive in the new world, which lead to the first Thanksgiving. 10 years later, a second group of Puritans followed the Pilgrims, under John Winthrop. Massachusetts was self-governing with some influence from the Bible.
Rationale: Anyone who has studied history of the Americas’ knows that it was founded by Christopher Columbus in 1492 however, he could not have explored the whole continent by himself. Who are the other Spanish explores and what are they famous for?
Indians from this point began to be dehumanized even further. Due to the color of their skin they were associated with the Devil. The settlers believed that Indians must be removed in order to progress in the settling of our land. ?God was making room for the colonists and hath hereby cleared our title to this place?
