Question
Chapter 19, Problem 5TY
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
If organisms share a common ancestor they can often exhibit structures present in their ancestral forms. In some organisms such structures can be identified in developmental stages. They appear in some developmental stage of the embryo and then disappear. This field is called as developmental homology since similarity between developmental structures of one species and normal structure of another species is analyzed. Presence of these structures is strong evidence in support of evolution.

Group of answer choices
Platyrrhine
Strepsirrhine
Hominoid
Cercopithecoid
Similar gill pouches in embryos of a chick, human, and cat are an example of
genetic homology
O structural homology
the inheritance of acquired characters
O developmental homology
Human embryos have tails which become tail bones before birth. Tails also appear in fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and
mammals Humans also have hair and produce milk to nourish the young, which is unique to mammals. What does this indicate?
a close evolutionary connection between humans and many other mammals
a very distant evolutionary connection between humans and many other mammals
a very distant evolutionary connection between humans and many other reptiles
a close evolutionary connection between humans and many other reptiles

All these organisms require oxygen to survive. The earliest fish fossils are found in the lowest strata of sedimentary rocks, followed by insects, and then humans.
