Introduction:

The alpha-amino groups of amino acids are mainly involved in two types of reactions, de-aminatio, nnd trans-amination. These reactions are reversible in nature. In de-amination reaction, smmonia is generated. This ammonia can be mainly generated by the oxidative de-amination of glutamate. Other reactions that also produce ammonia on de-amination involve various enzymes that help in catalysis of the reaction.
