Summary Introduction
To review:
The autoimmune disease caused by the deficiency of purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP).
Introduction:
PNP is one of the enzymes of the purine catabolic pathway. It is involved in the conversion of inosine, guanosine, and xanthosine to hypoxanthine, guanine, and xanthine, respectively. It is also known as the housekeeping enzyme and clears the by-products of the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) catabolism.
