Chapter 15, Problem 4RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The definitions of the following terminologies:
a. Urea cycle
b. Krebs bicycle
c. Carbamoyl phosphate
d. Ureotelic organism
e. Ornithine translocase
Introduction:
The catabolysis of amino acids results in the formation of excess ammonia. The excess ammonia needs to be excreted from the body. In some organisms, which are ureotelic, the ammonia is produced, which is converted to urea before excretion. This conversion forms a part of the urea cycle. The excretion of urea requires less amount of water.
